In One Place

A handful of faces, a fist full of smiles,
A dozen eyes twinkling float right through my mind.

Only a day and I miss it, only a night and it’s gone.
But the memory insisted, and the smile just slowly fades.
A feeling of joy overlapped, by a sadness of passing
But I know the reunion, will be a greater blessing.

A handful of faces, a fist full of smiles,
A dozen eyes twinkling float right through my mind.

For a weekend a year we’re there, for a while we’re all neighbours.
For a moment I can come over, without a thing in between.
And though that is just glorious, well what? It still is great.
It was a peek in the future, and a glimpse of all your hearts.

What is more valuable than Your children, more beautiful than your daughters?
Who are more spirited than God’s own sons, or more honourable than them?
What glory of the outside world outshines; the glory you’ve put in us Lord?
What is more innocent, more valuable, than the time we spent together?
In one place, on earth as it is in heaven.

Nothing.

A lyrics style poem I wrote after a national church weekend of my church community in 2010, came across it just now by chance.
